Supporting Students

SSET is a program intended for students who have experienced significant traumatic experiences and are suffering from symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder.

Supporting Schools

SSET is designed to help schools that do not have access to school-based clinicians. The program is delivered by nonclinical personnel.

SSET covers skill-building techniques that help:
• reduce negative thinking,
• promote positive behaviors,
• improve social skills,
• increase pleasant activities, and
• decrease avoidance of difficult situations

SSET Addresses:
•anxiety and nervousness
•withdrawal and isolation
•low mood
•acting out in school
•impulsive or risky behavior

How It Works:

  • This program is appropriate for 4th grade and above.
    •SSET consists of 10 student-group meetings.
    •Groups meet weekly in the school for one class period.
    •Groups consist of 6-10 students.
    •Students are referred by a trusted administrator.

  • The goal is to enable the students to continue practicing new skills on their own after the groups end.
  • This program is appropriate for 5th grade and above.
    SSET is designed to help schools that do not have access to school-based clinicians. The program is delivered by nonclinical personnel.
