About Peer Support

The peer support services program works with hospitals and other community agencies to extend the expertise of people in recovery or who have a personal family experience with recovery, to those who are seeking support, encouragement, and guidance in finding appropriate services. 



  • To use his/her personal story of recovery to inspire, provide hope, and ignite motivation.
  • To refer the individual to the Peer Engagement Specialist at SVPC for continuedRecovery Coach services.
  • To educate and connect SUD individuals and families to community resources regardingsubstance use treatment as well as the many pathways to recovery and resources available.
  • To connect and support SUD individuals in the emergency department through empathy, responsiveness & compassion while demonstrating a true & personal understanding of the individual’s situation and circumstances.
