The Advancing Tobacco Free Communities grant aims to reduce the impact of tobacco by reducing the impact of retail tobacco marketing on youth, and establish a tobacco-free community norm through tobacco-free outdoor air and housing policies.
Advancing healthier communities where we live, work, and play.
Through partnering with youth, parents, and community leaders, we create lasting changes that prevent youth tobacco use, support tobacco-free choices, and decrease exposure to secondhand smoke.
TOBACCO INDUSTRY INFLUENCE WHERE WE SHOP
Exposure to retail tobacco marketing leads to increased youth initiation of smoking and disproportionately impacts low-income communities.
TOBACCO IMAGERY ON SCREEN
Smoking on screen recruits 390,00 teens to start smoking every day, one-third of which will die prematurely from tobacco-related illness.
TOBACCO USE WHERE WE LIVE
Secondhand smoke and vapor drift from neighboring apartments and creates unhealthy living conditions for everyone in the building.
TOBACCO USE WHERE WE WORK
Smoking on workplace grounds exposes employees, visitors, and clients to harmful secondhand smoke.
TOBACCO USE WHERE WE PLAY
Exposure to secondhand smoke and tobacco litter in outdoor recreational areas including parks and beaches can be hazardous – especially for children.
